Weatherization

HCC's Weatherization Assistance Program

HCC's Weatherization Assistance Program improves living conditions and helps conserve energy by installing energy-efficient systems in low-income buildings. In turn, tenants and owners spend less money on electric, gas and heating bills. Building owners cannot request a rent increase for improvements completed through the Weatherization Assistance Program.

HCC weatherizes income-eligible buildings on the west-side of Manhattan from 14th Street to 110th Street. Since 1979, HCC has weatherized thousands of apartments in the Hell's Kitchen, Chelsea, Manhattan Valley and Upper West Side communities.

Typical weatherization measures may include, but are not limited to, heating system replacement or upgrade, roof insulation, pipe insulation, repair/replace defective windows and/or doors, energy-efficient replacement refrigerators, energy saving lighting, and health and safety measures such as carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.
