HCC's Weatherization Team lobbys in ALBANY against the proposed cuts by the Governor

HCC's weatherization team joined their statewide colleagues in Albany on March 4, 2026 to speak with NYS legislators about the importance of the weatherization program and oppose the proposed cuts in Governor Hochul's budget.
Weatherization is a federally authorized program that reduces energy costs for low-income households by improving home energy efficiency, ensuring safe heating systems, and addressing health and safety hazards. It relies on state funds for 60% of the costs and the loss of this funding would severely impact the program.
Last year, HCC' weatherization program:
Provided services to 339 low-income households in Hell's Kitchen/Upper West Side
Leveraged $1,26,411 in federal and state funding for the upgrades and
For the households we serve, energy costs consume a disproportionate share of income. Weatherization provides permanent bill reduction, improves housing quality, and stabilizes vulnerable families.
